It's coming up - gotta start planning out my goals, some specific and some more general.
One major goal - the TRI. http://triforacure.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=317519&supid=207289421 Why am I finding myself almost embarrassed when people ask me about it or comment on it? Maybe because I am the textbook "Slow Fat Triathlete Wanna Be" ? Reading that book, by the way, has been a lot of fun and very inspirational. Check it out for your humor reading...http://www.slowfattriathlete.com/
Anyway, as Jayne puts it so well, "Being a slow fat triathlete means being a beginner. It's shorthand for anyone who can find it in themselves to do a little training and take part in triathlon at their own pace, on their own terms, for their own reasons, with a mix of pride and humor." So, I will swim, bike and JOG, I just cannot call it running when it is so God damn slow. My goal is to finish. FINISH. And to continue to train - following my geezer training....I may hold myself to accounting for my training here...just to nudge me along for all of my (zero) readers!
Ok, that's enough - I have a lot more to write about, but man this exhausts me. Plus the deal was, "I'll mix the tuna up, if you make the sandwiches." So, off I go to make a couple of Po-Boys for my main man...
Phew, my first real blog post - I don't consider the Troop 1529 Blog a true blog....should I feel bad about that?

I totally get your comment about being embarrassed about doing a Tri. When I signed up for Tri for a Cure the first time, I was proud to tell people I was doing it, but I found myself cringing as I expected to get befuddled or incredulous looks in reply, like "What are you, nuts? people built like you aren't athletes!" Getting to that point (and you will, I promise!) where you think, "Hell, yeah, I'm doing a triathlon!" instead of "what am I thinking?" is almost as cool as the feeling when you cross the finish line with a crowd of people cheering you on! You will be SO happy you did it...I am psyched that I am going to be there with you to experience it!
ReplyDeleteThank You Jen - have had kind of a crappy day and that was really nice to read.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you'll be there with me!
